Temporary Provision of Additional Transportation Allowance

On 20 March 2026, the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (“MLVT”) issued a notification on the outcome of the Emergency Meeting of the National Council on Minimum Wage.

According to the meeting held on the same date, the government agreed to temporarily introduce an additional transportation allowance for employees in the textile, garment, footwear, and travel goods and bag sectors. The additional allowance is set at USD 2.50 (two US dollars and fifty cents) per month,
effective from 1 April 2026.

This allowance will be provided in addition to the existing transportation allowance currently in place and will remain applicable until gasoline prices return to normal levels.

To implement this notification, the MLVT is expected to issue a Prakas shortly. We will keep you informed of any developments regarding the upcoming Prakas.
